Mu-vanlai edge past UUFC in opening of CC Meet qualifier



Mu-vanlai Athletic Club of Sadar Hills defeated UUFC of  Ukhrul by a solitary goal in the opening game of  the qualifying round of 55th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, popularly known as CC Meet, at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

The Muvanlai team scored their winning goal in the 12th minute of play off a header by Jangkhohao Khongsai through  cross from Sehminthang Kipgen . His goal  helps Muvanlai  for the next round of the qualifying competition.

Qualifying round of the biggest football event in the state is featuring 17 teams of different district associations of All Manipur Football Association. Mode of the qualifier is  group-wise knock-out basis of  four groups and the winners of each group will qualify for final round this year edition.

Young Physique Union of Imphal West , XI Star SU of Imphal East , MUVANLAI AC of Sadar Hills, UUFC of Ukhrul  SAO of Kakching are in Group (A). CYLC of Immphal West, KLASA of Bishnupur, KIYC of Imphal East, LSC of CCpur are grouped in Group (B). KYVO of BPR, ABA of IE THAU of IW YWU of Kakching are gathered in Group (C). CWC of DSA Moreh, MTFC of DSA Senapati NLYC of CCpur and WYC of  Thoubal are clustered in Group (D).

Final round of the Meet will begin on November 2. In the final round, defending champion Shillong Lajong FC, the lone I-League team of North East India, and other two outstation teams will be expected to charm the fans of Manipur.
