Chandel, October 9: Riverlane Youth Club defeated Abungnikhu Youth club 2-1 in the first match of Ist Phantu Cup Football Tournament, 2003 being played at the playground of Maha Union Govt. Higher Secondary School at Japhou Bazar here on Tuesday.
SK Joseph (Jersey No10) and Sk Belong (Jersey No 18) netted the two winning goals of Riverline Youth Club in the 8th and 11th minute of the game. The win has propelled Riverlane Youth Club in the second round of the tournament, which began from Tuesday as well.
Hl Konahring (jersey No9) of Abungnikhu Youth club scored the solitary goal in the 27th minute. SK Joseph (Jersey No10) of Riverline Youth Club was shown the yellow card by the match referee for his unsporting conduct in the 1st minute of the play.
On the other hand, the second round matches of the tournament bagan from today with Liwa Changing and Panchai Sporting and Cultural (PSCC) taking the field in the second match today. The play ended in favour of Liwa Changning Youth Club (LYC) which beat its rival team PSCC 3-2 via penalty shootout following 2-2 draw during normal time.
Demmi (Jersey no 7) and Ng Konthang (Jersey No 9) scored one goal each for LYC in the 7th and 44th minute while Chuna (Jersey No 7) and Levite (Jersey No 10) fetched one goal each for PSCC in the 59th and 67 minute of the play.
