KLASA begins campaign with victory in Shirui Lily Cup

28th Shirui Lily Cup National Level Football Tournament was inaugurated today at TN ground, Ukhrul district. KLASA Keinou edged out Ukhrul Football Club by 5-3 goals in penalty shootout in the opening match .
Sixteen teams, including three outstation teams, are participating in the meet, to be played on a knockout basis and organised by the Ukhrul District Sports Association.
In the opening match, after both the teams levelled 1-1 in the regulated time of the match, the match was decided on penalties. KLASA managed to win the match after converting all the four spot kicks in the shoot-out. UFC 's side could convert only two.
Homeshor of KLASA netted the goal in the 30th minute to lead the match. His goal could least thirteen minutes. Yarmi levelled the score in 43rd minute. Efforts of both the teams to score more in the second session were in vain. As tied at the end of regulated time, penalties decided the match.
In the shoot out, KLASA's Sushil, Babumacha, Homeshor and Jiten converted their spot kicks while Pulu and Somipa of UFC converted the kicks from penalty spot. Team's first kick was failed to convert as the ball hit the cross bar. Last kick by Simon was saved by KLASA's goal keeper.
Manipur Police , runners-up of 6th Manipur State League, will play with XI Star SU tomorrow.
