The intensity of the game heightened in the 36th minute with the Assam Rifles men getting the winning goal from seasoned forward Akum Ao with a neat shot after collecting a pass from L. Santa Singh from the left penalty edge.
The goal egged on Assam Rifles but United Sporting Association also built up some strong attacking pace.
However, they couldn’t break through the Assam Rifles defence and made a sad exit. United player John Lalremsang Hmar got a yellow card in the match.
He also heaved a sigh of relief as his players did not sustain any major injury and hoped that they would get to play an exciting game in the final. Assam Rifles Soccer will now clash North Eastern Reorganising and Cultural Association in the final on Sunday at 1.30pm.
