IMPHAL, Dec 19: Host Manipur claimed the under-14 girls football competition title in the 57th National School Games while the under-17 team finished fourth after 3-1 defeat to Haryana in penalty shoot-out as the competition ended at Khu-man Lampak sports Com- plex today.
In the under-14 final, Manipur humbled Mizoram 4-0 with a Roja netting two (27th, 48th), and Bandana and Bidyarani scoring in the 47th and 59th minutes res-pectively. Nagaland secur- ed the third position after 2-0 rout of Goa.
The under-17 title was wrested by Nagaland as Ruth struck the champion-ship winning goal against Bihar in the 22nd minute.
Sports Minister N Biren and Director (YAS) H Del-eep Singh graced the clos- ing function as chief guest and president respectively.
In the u-17 girls section, Manipur lost to Haryana in bronze medal clash via tie-breaker.
