ESU and YWC enter semifinals after big wins

Imphal, Jan. 20: Eastern Sporting Union(ESU) Wangkhei Palace Ground  sailed into the semi-finals afte a big win . The defeated NIVSO Keibi , Imphal East  by 8-1 goals in the 8th S. Ronika Memorial Junior Girls’ Football Tournament at Khuman Lampak main stadium.

P. Bjieta Devi slammed home the opening goal for Keibi NIVSO in the 15th minute. Later, ESU's star striker W. Komlapati scored the second goal in the 20th minute and Th. Romi Devi scored another in the 21st minute.

In the second session of the match , W. Komlapati Devi and Ch. Maipakpi Devi scored two more goals each and P. Bijeta Devi scored the eighth goal for the 8-0 lead. The lone goal for NIVSO came during injury time through N. Borkeina Devi.


In another match, Youth Welfare Club Langthabal defeated  Andro Mahila Mandal Association(AMMA)  15-0 enroute to the semi-final.

Ch. Binomala Devi, L. Rabisana Devi and N. Sumila Devi struck three goals each while S. Sunimala Devi, Ng. Anibala Devi scored two goals and S. Dineshowri Devi, L. Avinashi Devi fetched a goal each.

With the completion of the league round, Eastern Sporting Union earned the top spot of Group (B) and they will meet Group (A) runner Youth Welfare Club on Monday for second semifinal while Group(A) winner Kangchup Road Youth Physical Sporting Association will take on Naharol Yaipha Thourang Youth Club in the first  semi-final on Sunday.


Loktak Trophy
Imphal, Jan. 20: AIM Khabam beat Manipur Police Club 1-0 in the second semifinal match of 5th Loktak Trophy Invitation Football Tournament. 


AIM's star striker Kh. Naoton scored their most important goal in 48th minute of the match. His goal helped the team to meet NEROCA in the summit clash.


The final match will be on Sunday.
