NEW DELHI: Riding on a brace by Alfred Jaryan, Mohammedan Sporting beat Kerala’s Golden Threads 2-1, in the 2nd division match played at the Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi on Tuesday.
Alfred K Jaryan scored a brace in 8th and 44th minutes for Mohammedan while Akabougu Chimeizie scored a solitary goal for Golden Threads in 61st minute.
In the first half of the match Mohammedan looked far more superior side among the two. They took aggressive stance and gave some tough time for Golden defenders.
Soon, the Kerala side cracked, and conceded an early goal in the 8th minute when Alfred scored the first goal off an header. He doubled the lead for his side again in 44th minute. On a cross by Md. Muktar, Alfred scored most wonderful goal of the tournament till now, to which Golden custodian Jennesh Thomas has no answer.
Changing the sides, Golden looked entirely different team and gave some difficult time for the Mohammeden defence line. They pulled one back in 61st minutes when Akabougu Chimeizie scored on a deflection from Mohammedan’s Adeola Hassan.
Spurred, Golden made numerous attempts and kept Kolkata side on the toes till the final whistle. But the Mohammedan hold on to their lead for their third successive win of the tournament.

NEW DELHI: In a one sided match, Goan outfit Vasco SC outplayed Bangalore’s KGF Academy 3-0, in a 2nd Division I League match, played at the Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi on Tuesday.
It was Agnelo Colaco who opened the score for Vasco in 14th minute, and then was followed by Jerose Oliveira in 31st and Isa Ali Isa in 77th minute.
The match was an one sided affair in favour of Vasco, who dominated the proceedings since the beginning. They didn’t gave any change for the Bangalore’s side to make come back in the match.
The first goal was scored off spot, when the ball was handed inside the penalty area by KGF, Agnelo who took the spot kick made no mistake to give his side an early lead in 14th minute.
Vasco doubled the lead in 31st minute through Jerose Oliveira, when the KGF defenders made a defensive lapse and Oliveira delightfully took the advantage to found the back of the net. Vasco made sure to keep the lead before going for the lemon break.
Changing over, same story continued. Vasco once again looked better side. Isa Ali in 77th minute made it 3-0 in favour of his side to seal the faith of the match.
Vasco now have 4 points from 3 matches while KGF are languishing at the bottom of the table without a point.
