IMPHAL, Feb 1: Under the aegis of IGAR (South) 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector is organising a football tournament named ‘Play together for Manipur’, which is being participated by eight teams.
In the opening match played today at Lilong ground, host 28 AR and Haoreibi Islamic Development Association settled for a 1-1 draw with Nodeo netting the AR score in the 25th minute and the rival team levelling through Azmir 17 minutes later.
The day’s second match saw Th Birchandra Singh Football Academy defeat Youth Welfare Club, Langthabal by a solitary goal scored by Md Zakir in the 50th minute.
Four matches will be played tomorrow.
The opening ceremony was graced by 28 AR Commanding Officer Col Sanjeev Kumar, DSP (Imphal West) KT singh and Thoubal Zilla Parishad Member MV Faisal Ahmed.
