Menezes thanks Father Agnel Group for support

MUMBAI: The U-20 Tournament for I-League teams is presently on in three different centres – Mumbai, Goa and Kalyani. In Mumbai, the tournament kicked-off at the state-of-the-art artificial turf at the Father Agnel Football Ground, Navi Mumbai on Wednesday (April 18).

Father Almeida, Managing Director of Fr Agnel Group of Institutions thanked All India Football Association (AIFF) for the initiative. “Father Agnel has always been at the forefront in promoting sports and Football stays our priority. We are excited to host such a prestigious tournament featuring best club and players of the country.”

“The first AIFF Academy would be launched here in few week time weeks and both these initiatives would go a long way in the development of football in our region,” he added.

Henry Menezes, CEO, Western India Football Federation, who was also present on the occasion said: “We are pleased by the arrangements made by Father Agnel School. I thank them for their support.”

“We hope that more such institutions take leaf out of Father Agnel’s commitment toward the sport and extend their support,” Menezes explained.

Meanwhile, in the first encounter, Air India defeated Chirag United Kerala 2-0, at the Fr. Agnel’s Multipurpose Stadium in Vashi. (AIFF)
