Prayag United look to return to winning ways

Shillong, Nov 03: Shillong Lajong FC will have to go all out to win some points from Sunday’s (November 4) match against Prayag United, who are at present placed second in the league table.

The Desmond Bulpin-trained side have had a great start to the campaign but failed to keep up the momentum as they went down against Sporting Clube de Goa 2-1 in the last match.

Lajong will have the service of only three foreigners - Ebi Sukore, Minchol Son and Gbeneme Friday - as they have sacked Liberian midfielder Johnny Menyongar for indiscipline.

On the other hand, Prayag United SC, who have seven points in their pocket, will hope for full points from Sunday’s outing at Shillong’s JN Sports Complex.

Prayag coach Sanjay Sen said: “We are title aspirants and we will play to win vital three points. However, at least one point should be alright in the away match”. They dropped points against ONGC in their last match after winning the first two matches.

Talking about the team, he said that all the players are available. “The weather is perfect to give a good football,” he added.

But he is not willing to take Lajong lightly. “Lajong are good team. Though their result was not satisfactory in the last match, they beat Mohun Bagan in the opening tie”

Lajong coach Bulpin said: “The boys have to perform well tomorrow. We have an away match against Dempo in the next round and we will have to be in top form”.

However, the result in the last match and dipping temperature may affect the number of crowd in the stands.

The kick-off is at 2.30pm.
