Sporting pip United Sikkim 2-1

MARGAO, Nov 18: Sporting Clube de Goa took advantage of a brief spell of good display in the initial exchanges of the first half to get the better of first timers United Sikkim 2-1 in the sixth round I-League tie at the Fatorda Stadium, here on Sunday (November 18, 2012).

Two goals from Ogba Kalu Nnanna (10th) and Seiya Sugishita (15th) in the span of five minutes gave Sporting the much needed cushion against Bhaichung Bhutia’s Sikkim who sparked some hope late on in the first half via Sandesh Jhingan but eventually succumbed to the might of the Goan outfit.

Courtesy the win, Sporting now leapfrog to the 8th position with seven points from six outings while United Sikkim stay put in the drop zone with five from the same number of matches.
