SHILLONG, Nov 23: Under pressure Shillong Lajong Football Club will host title aspirant Churchill Brothers in the round seven match of the I-League on Saturday here at JN Sports Complex. Lajong have not had a good going despite kicking off the league with a big win. Out of six matches played so far they have won two (against Mohun Bagan and Prayag United), drew against Salgaocar and were beaten by Sporting Clube de Goa 1-2. Out of all the matches, four matches were at home. Reeling from two away defeats to Dempo and Mumbai FC, they have to put their best foot forward to stop Churchill from picking up any points on Saturday. On the other hand Churchill is placed in the fourth spot with 12 points at the end of round six. They have won four matches and lost two. Churchill Brothers technical director Subhash Bhowmick said that the team has a lot of injured players. They have come to Shillong without their star player Beto as he is nursing an injury. Steven Dias is overcoming injury thus is uncertain as well. “It will be a nice game as Lajong is a strong side and defeating them at home will be difficult and added we will be happy with whatever the result is but we will go all out to pocket highest points”, Bhowmick said. On the other hand Lajong captain Rennedy Singh said “If the boys play in the manner in which they played against Dempo (however the result 1-4 was disappointing) we will be able to upset any team in the country. However the last match was bad as we lost 1-4 against Mumbai FC”. Lajong are likely to field Minchol Son and Ebi Sukora who were out in the last match because of injury. | |
