New Delhi, March 25: Churchill Brothers’ Technical Director Subhash Bhowmick’s words that the I-League is not decided till the last day came out true as none of the top four teams were able to log full points as the 21st round of the Marathon League kicked-off after the month-long break.

“There is many a slip between the lip and the cup” was what Bhowmick had to say about the unpredictability of the I-League ahead of their match against ONGC in the Capital.

Santosh Kashyap’s rejuvenated ONGC maintained their magnificent record at home by keeping table-toppers Churchill at bay in a 1-1 stalemate.

Both the goals in the match did have fair amount of fortune rubbed in them, as Steven Dias’s deflected goal in the 47th minute was fortuitously cancelled out by his teammate Roberto Mendes Silva’s own goal at the hour mark.

The day also saw second-placed East Bengal conceding in injury time as Air India managed to hold them 1-1 in Kalyani. Chidi Edeh’s 60th minute strike was not enough for the red and gold as Henry Ezeh scored deep into stoppage time.

Meanwhile, defending champions Dempo were left licking their wounds -- Rowilson Rodrigues putting the ball into his own goal against Sporting Clube De Goa in the 51st minute – with Sporting continuing their giant killing run and extending their unbeaten run to five games.

Pune FC relinquished their fourth spot to Prayag United after failing to muster a win against Thangboi Shingto’s Shillong Lajong, the match ending 2-2. Prayag United meanwhile, won by a solitary goal against United Sikkim.

In other matches, goals from Pailan Arrows’ Shaiju Mon and Seminlen Doungel gave Mohun Bagan a run for their money after an early Tolgay Ozbey brace and Aiborlang Khongjee’s opening goal had put the mariners in the driver’s seat.

In another match, Salgaocar rode Milagres Gonsalves’ 58th minute drive to edge Mumbai FC 1-0.
