Imphal, April 13: On the second day of the ongoing 15th Challenge Cup Veteran Footbal Tournament organised by Manipur veteran Football Association at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal, ISAV, Kongpal and IVFA, Canchipur defeated their opponents and won today’s matches.
The first match was won by ISAV, Kongpal after thrashing VSAN, Nambul Mapal 4-0. Kh Ratan of ISAV scored two goals in the 23rd and 38th minutes. N Itocha and T Shyam scored one goal each in te 47th and 53rd minutes of the match. On the other hand, VSAN could not score a single goal against ISAV throughout the match even though they put up a tough fight at moments.
Later, in the second match, IVFA Canchipur defeated VSAI, Thangmeiband 3-1. A Babu of IVFA drew the first blood in the 5th minute of the match. S Sanayaima added another goal in the account of IVFA in the 21st minute of the match.
Meanwhile, in a bid to square back the situation, VSAI players put up their best efforts and succeeded in opening their goal account through Kh Ratan in the 30th minute of the match. With the opener, they were filled with hopes and began to play the match with renewed vigour. However, all their hopes were shattered by a goal of K Subhaschandra of AVFA in the 50th minute of the match. The goal sealed the fate of the match as VSAI players could not fight back to add more goals into their account and the match ended with the scores at 3-1 in favour of IVFA.
