Spirited Shillong take on the might of ONGC

SHILLONG, April 6: Sunday promises to be a thrilling day for football lovers of Shillong city as their home team Shillong Lajong will take on ONGC at the JN sport complex. The match will be played under floodlights for the first time in the Shillong ground.

At present Shillong Lajong are placed tenth in the I-League table and are expected to give their all to better their ranking against ONGC who are slightly above Lajong in the the seventh place.

Speaking about his team ONGC coach Santosh Kashyap said, “The credit goes to boys. The players are doing well and Sunday evening match against Lajong is certainly going to be an exciting one as the Shillong boys have been doing well of late.”

Under Kashyap, ONGC have played eleven matches out of which they have won six and drew four, losing only one.

On the other hand home team’s coach Thongboi Singto feels confident of earning full points. “We have to capitalise on home advantage and right now we are concentrating on Sunday’s match. I am confident that if we play to our potential, we will win.”

Lajong have two home matches left and are looking to pocket six points and improve their position in the point’s tally of the league.
