Scott O’Donell inaugurates Sporting Clube’s Football Academy

NEW DELHI, August 19: Scott O’Donell, Technical Director, AIFF Academies and Director of Coach Education inaugurated the Sporting Clube de Goa Football Academy at the Don Bosco Ground to commence Sporting Clube de Goa’s 15th Anniversary Year.

“When the Indian National Coach Wim Koevermans told me about the work being carried out at Don Bosco, Panjim I was pleased.  Now after seeing the ground in person, I’m overwhelmed,” O’Donell maintained.

“I feel truly blessed to have been able to complete my dream project. In order to excel, young players need access to quality coaching, quality infrastructure and quality competition. This is what I had in mind for my former school when designing the Academy structure,” Sporting Clube de Goa President Peter Vaz pronounced.

Father Ian Figueiredo, Provincial, Panjim Province, also inaugurated the renovated Football ground on the 198th birth anniversary of Don Bosco. Father Savio Gomes, Rector, Don Bosco, Panjim and Father Avin Carvalho, Principal, Don Bosco High School, Panjim, were also present on the occasion.

A Grassroots Festival was also held in the U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 categories. 120 kids participated in the same which included a 4 v. 4 competition, penalty shoot-outs, dribbling and skill contests, ten-pin foot bowling, among other small sided games.
