AMFA team inspires Tml footballers

TAMENGLONG, October 27: The 41-member team of All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) led by its Council Member W. Manihar inspired the people of Tamenglong, particularly the football lovers.

Before the closing ceremony of the 4th Gospel Youth Soccer at Tamenglong Mini Stadium, an exhibition match was played between Manipur Police Women Sporting Club and Manipur Women 11 combine team. Both the teams have come from Imphal. In the end, Manipur Women 11 combined team won the match by 1-0 goal.

Attending the closing ceremony of the 4th Gospel Youth Soccer, W. Manihar, Council Member of AMFA observed that four teams of Zeliangrong namely Kakhulong Youth Club, Keishampat Kabui Youth Club, Ragailong Youth Club and Namdunlong Youth club used to come up in the sport event in the last ten years. But this time, the Zeliangrong team was not heard.

According to W. Manihar, four years back Tamenglong team also used to come up at state level but this time this does not happened.

He hoped to organise one big sport event in Tamenglong. He also urged all the concerned authority to organised football training for school children during the winter holiday.

He also took note over the deplorable condition of Tamenglong- Khongsang road and national highway 37 during the course of his speech.

The closing ceremony was graced by Joseph Pauline, ADM Tamenglong and B. Go Manglien, Addl SP Tamenglong, Teams of District Sport Association, DSA Tamenglong and Pastors and church leaders.
DSA President announced that football development training will be conducted in the near future and free uniform will be given to the participants.

He also explained the purpose of bringing the AMFA team during the Youth Gospel Soccer and expressed his sincere gratitude to the AMFA team.

In the final match played between Chiuluan Baptist Church and Tamenglong Baptist Church, Tamenglong Baptist Church beat Chiuluan Baptist Church by 5:1 goals.

Ch. Kalieni Chanu, FIFA referee who had came with the AMFA team, conducted the final match.
The titles for the best player as well as the top scorer was awarded to AK. Keininglung (Jessy no. 10) of Tamenglong Baptist Church.

The second runners up title was bagged by Zeme Naga Baptist Church. The 4th Gospel Youth Soccer was participated by 30 teams from Tamenglong block. Next year it is likely to invite the other sub- division of Tamenglong district.
