Shaheed Manoranjan football begins
IMPHAL, Nov 30: Yurembam Impui Football Club (YIFC) edged past Th Birendra Singh Football Academy, Taobungkhok at 4-3 via the tie-breaker in the opening match of the 2nd Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Running Trophy football tournament at Langjing Achouba ground today.
After a goalless draw at the end of normal time penalty shoot-out was applied to break the deadlock during which YIFC converted four out of the first five attempts through Rajani, Ajit Kumar, Robert and Chitaranajn. For the Taobungkhok side, M manglemba, Kh Herojit and K Krishnadas were the successful penalty takers.
Inaugurating the tournament as the chief guest, IGP M&N Sector CRPF MS Raghava recounted the supreme sacrifice made by late Manoranjan to maintain peace and integrity of the Nation. Apart from officials and jawans of the CRPF, family members of Manoranjan and a large number of civilians attended the opening ceremony. While Manoranjan’s sister Yaiphabi shared some words on behalf of the family, white balloons were released on the occasion in memory of Shaheed Manoranjan Singh.
