Imphal East District Football Association (IEDFA) clinched the champion’s title of the 15th Sub-Junior boys Inter-District Football Tournament after defeating Imphal West District by 5-2 goals in their last encounter at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
The win gave Imphal East a total of 13 points in their five maches to win the title. DSA Sadar Hills to the second spot with 12 points in their five matches.
Imphal East got their opening goal in the 10th minute through Y. Bishan Singh. S. Krishnakanta Singh and Ksh. Ajit Singh struck the second third goals for Imphal East to lead 3-0.
In the second half, Grush of Imphal West reduced the margin to score his team’s opening goal in the 45th minute. Imphal East found themselves on the mood of defensive soon after Imphal West's Premjit Singh netting home his team's second goal in the 62nd minute.
However, Imphal East's Y. Raj Shah scored his team's second in 66th minute of the match to seal for winning streak .Th. James Singh finished off with a well-aimed goal in the 70th minute for the victory today.
DFA Thoubal finished with seven points, DSA Bishnupur with five points, Imphal West with four points and DSA Kakching with a point.
