Imphal, January 15: YLC, Andro today beat UYPA, Nongdam in penalty shoot-out after playing a goalless draw and won the winner's title of the 1st Longjam Taibu @ Ratan Memorial Lamlai & Andro Kendra Open Football Tournament 2011 organised by the Joint Sports Authority of Nongdam at the Nongdam Playground.
In the keenly contested final match, both team could not registered a single goal against each other and the match concluded in a goalless draw. In the penalty shoot out, YLC players edged in three goals against two of UYPA and won the tournament.
L Dara, Th Devan and K Thango of YLC hit the target while thier teammate M Noren failed to convert his kick into goal. On the other hand only T Premjit and Anthony Khan of UYPA could convert their kicks into goal while Y Durjamani and K Kiranjit missed.
While YLC won the winner’s trophy, UYPA who lost the match had to satisfy themselves with the runners up trophy. The third place title was won by SSC, Sekta with a walk over win, as BSU, Nongpok Kakching, with whom the match was to be played, failed to turn up at the venue.
R Moren of SYC, Seijang who scored 12 goals in the tournament was adjusted the title of Top Scorer while S Abung of UYPA won the Best Player’s title. The Best Goalkeeper’s title was adjusted to Biken of SPN, Nongdam and the Best Discipline Team’s title was won by SPN, Nongdam
