FIFA official inspects RAU Ground to make final touches of artificial grass football turf


Imphal, February 26, 2012: Eric Gordon Harrison, FIFA Artificial Turf Consultant, inspected to make  final touches to the developing artificial grass football turf at RAU Ground of National Sports Academy complex at Khuman Lampak on Sunday.

After a long halt to the development of the Fifa development project, Win in India with India, because of last years three months long economic  blockades on the national highways and seasonal disturbances, the work began from January 8 this year.

Harrison did not make any comment  about the condition of the work, but he felt dissatisfaction on ground leveling of the turf installation. His   visit would make final touches of the turf to be utilized soon. Officials of  La Monte Sports  who are engaged for the installation work assured that  the leveling work would be done within three or four days.

Representatives from Italy’s La Monte Sports  are at work on the unfolding and adjustment of the artificial football turf since January 8.  La Monte officials had set February 15 as the deadline to complete the project, but it defered and now it is proposed to be completed and utilized  by first week of March.

However, the AMFA officials are hoping that the weather does not play spoilsport in the completion of the project. On the development of the surrounding areas, including the drainage system. The layout had been completed.

The Fifa project deals with the development of the football ground and the artificial turf. The state government will take care of other essential components like the dressing room, drainage system and the gallery.
