NEW DELHI: The FIFA Futuro III Fitness Instructors Course closing ceremony was held in New Delhi on Sunday (March 4). Mr. M Ganeshan, FIFA Instructor Fitness from Singapore, addressed the gathering and distributed certificates to the 15 participants. Mr. Muhiseen Ariff, Refereeing Development Officer – FIFA and Mr. Goutam Kar, Head of Referees, AIFF were also present on the occasion.
Fifteen participants were awarded FIFA Participation Certificates to attend the four-day course, where they were exposed to new technology in referee fitness testing and monitoring.
Classroom theory and practical sessions were held during the course. The participants were evaluated on their abilities to make presentations and conduct fitness training sessions.
Mr. Ganeshan, who officially closed the course, stressed on the importance of referee fitness and said, “Introduction to new technology and methods will be useful in our duties as fitness instructors. I believe referee fitness instructors experience alone is inadequate. They must have sound scientific knowledge of physiological fitness training.”
“The physical and mental fitness of referees is very important in order for them to make good decisions,” he added.
Goutam Kar thanked, Ganeshan and Ariff for their support to conduct the Course. “Without their active cooperation, it wouldn’t have been possible to conduct the course. He also thanked FIFA for their support.”
