Mixed day for India in AFC U-14 Fest

New Delhi: It was a mixed day for India’s U-14 boys on Day 2 of the ongoing U-14 AFC Fest in Kathmandu.

India were held to a goalless draw in their first match against hosts Nepal but came back strongly to beat Sri Lanka by a solitary goal in their second match of the day -- Bideswar scoring the match winner. However, on a slushy ground, India went down to Bangladesh in their last match by a solitary goal.

India’s performance came in for praise from AFC Instructor Mr. Vincent Subramanium.

Head Coach Sajid Yousuf said: “I’m happy the manner the boys played. It’s heartening to see the team adopting to a new style of football.”

“The intention stays to see that the boys enjoy the game and if they continue to perform in the same fashion, the future certainly seems bright.”
