Participants thank AIFF as Goalkeeping Course ends

The All India Football Federation organised Goalkeeping Seminar at the Cooperage ground in Mumbai came in for huge praise from the participating coaches. As the 8-day course at the Cooperage Stadium came to an end on Monday (October 15), the participants admitted they go back home “enriched.”

Former National Team Goalkeeper Tanumoy Basu lauded AIFF for the initiative. “If you notice there’s a range of Coaching Workshops being organised All India Football Federation. Only in August, we were in Navi Mumbai for a Coaches seminar and now within two months, another specialised course was conducted,” he maintained.

“Goalkeeping is a thankless job and it’s not everyday that there are Courses conducted for them. I like to thank Mr. Kushal Das for the initiative,” Basu who played for India for over a decade added.

The Seminar – conducted by former German goalkeeper Lutz Pfannenstiel and German football scientist Felix Imm -- comprised of both theoretical and practical sessions.
AIFF Academy coaches Feroz Sheriff and Mario Aguiar was all praise about the course too.

“I am gaining a lot of knowledge from this Course. I thank the AIFF for organising such a Course dedicated for goalkeepers. The sessions were detailed ones and interesting. It was a great learning experience. I will pass on the knowledge to my young custodians,” assured Sheriff.

Aguiar added it was an unique course and such courses can enhance the standard of goalkeeping in India.

“It was great to see courses for goalkeepers is taking place and with such detail. I have done two coaching license courses previously but this one was unique. I learnt some good drills which I can inculcate in my young goalkeepers.”

Shillong Lajong goalkeeping coach Gumpe Rime said: “This stayed my first course. I appreciate AIFF’s initiative. The course was such a learning curve. It enlightened me to deal with young goalkeepers and the role of a goalkeeping coach was well defined too.”

“I always looked upto Tanumoy Basu during his playing days. Being on the same platform with him was an experience for me.”
