Thau Sports Academy meets defeat


Chandigarh: Displaying sharp ground skills, Dalbir Football Academy, Patiala, overpowered Thau Sports Academy, Manipur, to record their second successive triumph by a margin of 2-1 in a match played during 10th Administrator's Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament being held in Chandigarh.

It was Rishi Kumar who drew first blood for Thau Manipur as he scored a goal in the 4th minute of the match. Despite getting a lead, Thau Manipur could not press the counter attack from the Patiala academy, who came back in the match by scoring an equaliser in the 25th minute of play through Santosh Kumar. The Dalbir lads were quite dominant in their approach after the equaliser. Both the teams were locked by 1-1 at half-time. After the interval, Gurmanpreet of Dalbir Academy netted the winning goal in the 49th minute to take the important lead. Meanwhile, Harpreet Singh and Sukhjit Singh, both of Dalbir Academy Patiala, were shown yellow cards by the referee for their involvement in the act covered under offences.

In the other match played at the Sector 17 Football Stadium, Madhya Pradesh Football Association blanked Young Challengers Rajkot, Gujarat, by the huge margin of 18 goals to nil.

Showing off their skills, Saifuddin Seikh and L. Nakul Singh scored five goals each for Madhya Pradesh. On the other hand, Mohd. Danish scored four goals for MP, while Avinash Thakur, Chander Pal Singh, Om Parkash Singh and Ajitash Shukla scored one goal each for the winning team. The MP team was leading by 10 goals to nil at the breather. During the match, Avinash Thakur of Madhya Pradesh and Namra of Young Challengers were cautioned by the referee and shown yellow cards for indulging in rough play.

Aizwal Football Club, Mizoram, also performed well as a team to trounce Jodhpur Football Academy by the margin of 2-0. Both the teams struggled to pull-off powerpacked performance on the field. Johan Lal Ummpuia drew first blood for Aizwal Football Club, scoring in the 18th minute of the match.

On the resumption of play after half time, Aizwal lads pumped on more goal in the 71 st minute through Van Lal Biaa to extend the lead by 2-0. Van Lal Biaa was cautioned by the referee and shown yellow card for showing nonsupporting behavior. Meanwhile, in the last match of the day, Sahayatri Football Club, Howrah, got the better off JJ Institute of Soccer, Bengaluru, by 10-0. The first goal for Sahayatri was scored by Subhashish Bhuma in the 15th minute of play. Sachin Singh made it 2-0 in 17th the minute . The third and fourth goals were contributed by Subhankar Sana in 36th and 52nd minutes.

The winners led 3-0 at half time. Sachin Singh was again on target in the 60th minute. Subhashish Bhumagot the sixth goal for Sahayatri in 68th minute . Aynur Laskar netted the seventh goal in the 73rd and the eighth goal came from the boot of Sourav Ghosh in the 76th minute. Srinjoy Dutta and Subhankar Sana scored in the 88th and 90th minutes, respectively to complete the rout of JJ Institute of Soccer.(Courtesy: Indian Express)
