SHILLONG, Nov 30: Fresh from their last round victory, Shillong Lajong Football Club will be hosting League leaders East Bengal in a 9th round match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday (December 1).
Federation Cup champions East Bengal aim settle down fast in the picturesque town. It was in Shillong where they had suffered their last defeat during the 2011-12 season in February. Since then, they have remained unbeaten.
“We stay aware of the importance of the match and we will go all out to pocket full points” said East Bengal coach Trevor James Morgan. “To remain at the top of the table, we have to win at any cost. We lead Dempo SC by a point at the moment,” he added. “Lajong are a difficult team, and on top of it the journey to reach Shillong, is more challenging.”
“We have some injury concerns as our players picked up some niggles in the last match against Salgaocar. But I feel they would recover in time for the match.”
On the other hand Lajong, who seem to have gained a winning momentum after three successive defeats, will be blazing all guns. “We hope to get a positive result. We know we will have the crowd behind us,” Lajong coach Desmond Bulpin said.
The bad news for Lajong stays that both Boithan and Ramluhia will be sitting out as they are yet to recover from injuries sustained earlier.
The kick-off is at 2pm.
Dempo take on Salgaocar: Meanwhile, in Margaon, defending champions Dempo SC will be taking on Salgaocar. Dempo stay at the second spot at the moment with 19 points from 8 matches while Salgaocar are on 6 points from 8 matches.
The kick-off is at 7pm and the match will be telecast live on Ten Action Plus.
