Imphal, July14: Imphal West District Football Association has started the Imphal West Super Division Football League at Khuman Lampak Artificial Turf Ground on Sunday. In the opening match of the league tournament today, YDO, Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi clashed against SU, Sagolband while THAU, Thangmeiband took on NACO, Nambul Mapal. YDO, edged out SU, 2-1 and NACO routed THAU 3-0.
The first match played between YDO and SU was an eye catching one with both the teams engaged in trying to dominate each other. However, sneaking the barricade of SU, A Nanao of YDO made a goal in the 28th minute of the play. Soon, it was replied by another goal from Keishing Pamei of SU in the 39th minute.
As the tension among the players risen with 1-1 goal on the board, YDO players started playing aggressively. In their effort to dominate their rival, two players of YDO namely Kh Bishorjit and N Joykumar were given strict warning from the match referee in the 36th and 51st minutes respectively. In the 43rd minute N Olen of YDO netted the second goal of their team.
The second match which was played between THAU and NACO, turned out to be an easy play for NACO, with W Bikash scoring two goals for the team in the 26th and 41st minute. Md Amir Khan also contributed a goal to claim an easy win against THAU. O Gyaneshwor and W Bikash of NACO were given caution for their unsporting behaviour by the match referee during the play.
