NEW DELHI, September 9: Milan Basumatary led the surge with five goals as the AIFF Regional Academy, Navi Mumbai strolled to a 8-0 victory over Air India U-19 at the Fr. Agnel's Ground, Vashi.
In what proved to be a lopsided affair from start to finish, the AIFF youngsters’ took command of the proceedings early on and scored at regular intervals en route registering a comfortable victory.
Right from kickoff, the visitors found themselves on the defensive, with three goals conceded in the opening fifteen minutes.
In-form striker Milan Basumatary, who has been on a scoring spree of late, found the net on five occasions (8th, 12th, 30th, 34th and 38th minute) in a remarkable first half performance.
Meanwhile goals from Suman Sarkar in the 28th minute and a trademark long-range strike from Hayden Fernandes in the 37th meant that the youngsters finished the first half with the score at a staggering 7-0.
On to the second half and captain Rakesh Oram added the team's eighth and final goal in the 68th minute poking home from close range.
