Imphal, September 25: The 1st Phantu Cup 201 Soccer tournament organized by Lambung Youth and Cultural Club (LYCC) Chamdil will kick off on September 30 at the playground of Maha Unioin Government Higher Secondary School, Japhou in Chandel District.
This was announced by the President and Sports’ Secretary of LYCC LK Daniel and Sng Ningam respectively while talking to the media.
Sports Secretary Sng Nigam informed that Champion of the tournament will take home a Rolling Cup, a cash prize of Rs 20,000 with certificates while the runner-up will be given a Cup (take-away), a cash prize of Rs 10,000 with certificates. Best player, top scorer, best goalkeeper and best team will be richly awarded. Match fixture will be drawn on September 26, Nigam added.
Replying to a question on the objectives of the football event, President LK Daniel said that the tournament is organized in remembrance of the priceless achievements and contributions made by their beloved Phantu players who he described them as “pioneers of football game in Chandel District”.
Also, the tournament, LK Daniel said, is aimed at giving education and encouragement to the youths in the field of physical and mental wellbeing, teamwork, and positive attitude.
