IMPHAL, Jan 13: Two brilliant saves of spot kicks by K Dingku helped Imphal West DFA claimed the title of the 7th A Borchand Memorial Under-14 Boys Inter District Football Festival at Khuman Lampak Practice Ground today.

After a goalless draw at the end of regulated time in the final match against Imphal East District Football Association, penalties decided the title of the festivals , Imphal West's Goalkeeper Dingku saved the first two shots from the rivals’ T Sundaynoon and M Jayananda while all four penalty takers of eventual champions made no mistake from the spot. Sana, Bedashore, Tondonba and kishan took their spot kicks for Imphal West team. They converted all the four kicks. Form Imphal East side, Akbar converted his kick. As first two kicks by Sundaynoon and Jayananda failed to score their kicks, Akbar's efforts was useless.
In the league round, Imphal West defeated DFA Thoubal and DSA Kakching to place the top of the group. On ther hand, Imphal East defeated DSA Bishnupur in 2nd leg match after goalless draw in the first leg match of Group (A) and topped in the group.
The top teams of the group met in the summit clash of the festival in the evevning. In the Closing function, Salam Sanatomba, President Imphal East District Football Association presented the prizes to the winning teams.
Bitan appointed appointed Ng. Bitan of Manipur as spotter for the coming 48th Junior National Football Championship for Dr. BC Roy Trophy 2012. The Championship will be held at Siliguri, West Bengal from 18th January to 29th January. Bitan, AFC 'C' Certificate holder, is a promising in the field of coaching in the state. He is also an US trained coach. He was asked to confirm his availability at the earliest by AIFF. |
NISA win in loktak Trophy
IMPHAL, Jan 13: NISA, Thangmeiband defeated AIM, Khabam by a solitary goal in a Group A match of the 5th Loktak Trophy football tournament at Moirang Multi-purpose Higher Secondary School ground today. Nabachandra netted the match-winner in the 27th minute.
MPSC and NEROCA will play tomorrow.
