Imphal, Feb. 12: Imphal East edged out Imphal West to lift the football title during sudden death penalty shootout in the 4th School Meet at Khuman Lampak sports complex. In the subsequent shootout, both teams put in four goals each with Tyson Singh, D. Great, S. Rabindra Singh and Kh. Becky Singh finding the net for Imphal East while O. Ajoy Singh, N. Dhananjoy Singh, L. Sanahal Singh and L. Sona Singh scored for Imphal West. Both teams wasted a kick. During sudden death, Md Amir Khan and Ng. Ronald Singh struck for Imphal East while K. Luckychand Singh found the net but K. Krishnadas shot wide to deny them the champion’s title. Earlier in the semi-finals, Imphal East beat Thoubal by 4-1 goals while Imphal West beat Ukhrul by 2-0 goals to make it to the final today. In the volleyball event, Imphal East claimed the champion’s title beating Bishnupur by 3-1 sets in the girls’ final match. In the boys’ final, Bishnupur lifted the champions title, beating Imphal East by 3-0 sets. In the senior girls’ kho kho final, Imphal East scored over Thoubal by 14-6 points for the champions title while in the boys’ event, Thoubal beat Imphal West by 13-11 points for the champion’s title. The meet will conclude tomorrow at Khuman Lampak main stadium. |
