5th Ibudhou Mungyamba football tourney begins

Imphal, March 05: The 5th Ibudhou Mungyamba Men’s Open Football Tournament organised by the 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) began yesterday at Thongjao village in Thoubal District. The Tournament is being organized as a mark of respect to Ibhudou Mungyamba, the local deity of the area, stated a press release of PRO IGAR (S) today.

The tournament is structured and being conducted on a knock out basis. A total of 16 Club teams are participating in the Tournament. A rolling trophy with a grand cash prize of Rs 30,000 shall be awarded to the winner.  Runners-up and individual performances like Best Manager, Premier Scorer and Best Goal Keeper etc will also be felicitated with various incentives. 

The tournament is being organized at Thongjao Village since the last five years with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event is a showcase of sportsman spirit and dedication to sports in the area. This year 27 Assam Rifles has ventured it to conduct the Tournament in a befitting manner. In the exhilarating inaugural match between Kakching Khunou Club and 27 Assam Rifles, Kakching Khunou Club beat 27 AR 5-4 in penalty shoot-out after playing a goalless draw, the release added.
