IMPHAL, Mar 16: Thoubal-A team emerged as the champions of the Thoubal Football Cup 2012 while Development Organisation Andro Kendra secured the runners-up position of the 10-day competition which concluded today at Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School ground.
The champion team was awarded Rs 10,000 and runners-up Rs 5000.
Closing ceremony of the tournament organised by 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector and participated by 14 teams, was held with 15 AR Commandant, who also handed away special gifts to Best Player, Best Goalkeeper and Golden Boot winners.
A girls match featuring DOAK and PYC teams was also played.
It is said that selection for state level football tournament will also be made from amongst the best players of different teams who took part in the Tournament.
