10 men PHLYO hold off one goal lead to win match


IMPHAL, August 10: PHLYO, Thangmeiband is leading the points table of the Imphal West 1st division football league while YPHU, Lalambung is leading the Super Division league of the district after both registered wins in their respective matches today.

In the first match of the day, ten men PHLYO defeated CYLC, Chingamathak by 1-0 in their 1st division league match today at the THAU ground.

Ph Sohodev of PHLYO was sent offed in the 77th minute after getting two yellow cards during the match. He was first cautioned in the 40th minute.

Another player of the team, Jackichand was also cautioned with a yellow card in the 67th minute.

The all-important goal was scored in the 62nd minute by Anand for PHLYO.

PHLYO has nine points after winning all of its three matches in the league so far while its opponent CYLC has only 2 points after managing to end two of its three matches to end in draws.

In the second ground match of the day, YPHU defeated IBSA, Yumnam Leikai by 1-0 in their Super Division match. After today’s win, YPHU has seven points from two wins and a draw and is leading the points table.

YPHU’s winning goal was scored through a spot kick at the 65th minute taken by L Abung. The referee awarded YPHU with a penalty after Pangkei of IBSA handed the ball inside the penalty box in the 64th minute.

IBSA has only one point from a previous draw.
