Imphal July 18: The Maharaj Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division Football League-2013 being organised by Imphal East District Football Association began from Wednesday.
Citizen's Club, Soibam Leikai and XI-star, Akampat clashed in the opening match of the tournament at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.
Citizen's Club defeated XI-Star 3-1. Shomi Rongrei and L Fernando of the winning team scored the winning goals. Shomi netted one goal while Fernando added two more goals in favour of their team. N Romesh of XI-Star scored the lone goal of his team in the 54th minute of the play.
Fernando of Citizen's Club and Napoleon Mangte of XI-Star were given cautions by the match referee for their unsporting behaviour.
