IMPHAL, Jan 9: 13th Sena Cup District Level Under-16 Boys Football Tournament opened today evening at Kakching Wairi Khunjampat Playground.

The tournament sponsored by Videocon Mobile Phones is being organised by Sena Atheletic Organisation under DSA Kakching. Nine teams are racing for the cup.
In the Opening game of the tournament, Advanced Volunteers' Association (AVO) Kakching Wairi edged past Ideal Club 5-1. Indernath (26th minute) scored first goal of the tournament to lead the match from Ideal Club. Santakumar (37th Minute), Tyson (51st minute), Rahul (66th minute) and Minaketan (69th minute) added one goal each. Ideal's Riakanta reduced one in the 71st minute of the match.
In the opening ceremony, Pukhrambam Modhusudan, Councilor Kakching Municipal Council , graced the function as chief guest while Naorem Krishnamohon , President District Sports Association, presided over the ceremony.
The competing teams are AVO, SAO, IC, UCC, IYA, YWU, SWSC, SWC and KPSC. Tournament is being conducted league-cum knockout basis. League of three groups began from today. The top team of each group will qualify in last fours and best runners-up team among the group will also qualify in semi-final round.

IMPHAL, Jan 9: Sorok Atingbi Veteran Football Club stormed into the final of the 5th Makholal Roy Memorial Veteran Football Tournament with a 7-2 defeat of United Club Digli, Cachar at Jiribam Higher Secondary School ground today.
While Abel R Nago (10th, 15th, 40th) hogged the limelight in the first semifinal clash, Priyokumar (3rd, 20th) and Athon (29th, 32nd) also contributed their mite in the comfortable victory for Sorok Atingbi over the Cachar side for whom Achinda Deb (8th, 55th) reduced the score deficit.
Sorok Atingbi will play for the title against the winner of tomorrow’s second semifinal featuring South Barak Veteran Football Team, Cachar and Dibong GP Veteran Football Club.
Loktak Trophy: AMFA has appointed Lokendra Sapam, Sh Suresh, Kh Ranjit Singh and Th Satyajit Singh as the additional referees for the 5th loktak Trophy football tournament.
