KANGPOKPI, Nov.22: The 5th Mangboi Memorial Cup Open Football Tournament 2012 organized by District Sports Association Sadar Hills commenced today at Brig. Thomas Ground Kangpokpi with Shri. Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman, ADC-Sadar Hills as Chief Guest of the opening ceremony.

Shri.  Paojalet Touthang, Vice-Chairman, ADC-Sadar Hills and Shri. Thangkam Lupheng, President Kuki Inpi Saikul Block attended the function as Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively.

ADC Sadar Hills MDCs, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, KTC, KWWO, KYU, Local Church leader also attended the function.

The first match of the tournament was played between Kangpokpi Youth Union and FC. Ngailai. Kangpokpi Youth Union defeated FC. Ngailai by 3-2.

Lamminlal(15min.), Lunneihao(73min.) and Paogoulen(83min.) scored for the winning side while Limminlen(30min.) and Haotinthang(76min.) scored for FC.Ngailai.

The tournament will be Knock Out –cum League basis and it will be played at two playground. One at Brig. Thomas Ground Kangpokpi and another one at L.S. Lunneh Playground, Motbung.

Tomorrow at Thomas Ground Kangpokpi, T.Chaljang Youth Club and FC.Sahei will play in the first match while FC.Khanglai meets Sapormeina Youth Club in the second match.

At Motbung playground, Motbung Youth Club will play FC. Falcon Chalbung in tomorrow’s first match while  Haokip Veng, Imphal will meets Seitinlien Memorial Team in the second match.
