Imphal, June 29: It is a very natural feeling to feel good when one has to visit his teammate’s hometown and to play there. Doing so reaps double benefits as he will understand the kind of society where his family-like teammate grew up and of course, the joy of visiting a new place. This feeling is what the great Indian footballers representing FPAI XI (Football Players Association of India) feel at the moment. They have been rubbing shoulders with the Manipuri players in their teams (and in their rival teams), but actually visiting their hometown gives a new feeling.
From all the players representing the FPAI, only three are left to arrive in Manipur. While all the other players have arrived on Friday and Saturday, the remaining will arrive on Sunday. Those who have already arrived include Subrata Paul, Debabrata Roy, Nirmal Chetri, Robert, Climax Lawrence, Larindika Ralte and many others.
They said that it is great honour to get the chance to play in Manipur as the state has always been known for its fascination with football. Moreover, the state has made immense contribution to Indian football as many talented players have been produced from this state.
They also added in a lighter note that after knowing the talents of the state’s players, they now want to experience the love by playing in front of the football loving people of the state.
On the other hand, the exhibition football event on Sunday will have two matches. The first will start from 1 pm and the second will start from 3 pm. In the first match, the MDS Junior team will play with the Dr T Ao Trophy winning Manipuri team.
And the second match will be the main highlight match, playing between MDS Chargers XI and FPAI XI. The uniform of the former will be red shirt, black pant and red socks. While FPAI players will wear white shirt, blue pants and blue socks.
